10 Cabins Fundraiser
Every gift is a huge blessing!
Growth spurts can be painful! The past two years have been the biggest years of our history. Churches are working harder than ever to create times of undistracted fellowship, discipleship, and worship. The winter months are normally considered the off season for camps, but our weekend capacity for groups is at 93%. We have hovered around the same size from 2007 till 2020. The past two years have made it abundantly clear that we need to add beds as well as another camp zone.
This past spring we finished remodeling four summer-only cabins in Rivertown, making them usable year-round for youth and adults. In the next couple of months we are hoping to finish six new cabins at Rusty’s Ridge, our new camp zone. The money to purchase and prepare these six cabins arrived this spring; this fall the building shell that we will use for the meeting room at Rusty’s Ridge was donated, and the pipe panels needed to construct a new horse arena arrived paid in full. With so many details coming together, we hope to run the first camps using the new camp zone in June 2024.
After the cabins are finished, the next challenge to using them for camp is furnishing them. More accurately, we have 100 challenges with 10 beds in each of the 10 cabins; or if you want to get technical, 3240 challenges with all the stuff we need for 100 beds and 10 cabins—building bunks and end tables as well as purchasing pillows, mattresses, linens, towels, trash cans, alarm clocks, and brooms. To get everything for 100 beds will cost $135,000 or $1,350 per bed. Although the initial cost is steep, the amount of use is amazing. Over the life of the cabin, each bed will provide 6000 nights of sleep to campers . . . just 23 cents a night. To top it all off, a night at camp means there was a day when a camper heard the Word of God, was challenged to make decisions for eternity, and was encouraged to continue to live a life pleasing to God. Young people will hear the gospel, and adults will be encouraged and challenged.
We need your help! We normally have a bit of a head start on some of these projects. but all of our resources have gone into getting the six new cabins built and the four older cabins remodeled. Would you be willing to help with wood toward a bunk ($400), all the furnishings for one bed ($1350), or everything for all ten beds in one cabins ($13,500)? We have been able to do the basics on 40 of the beds but have nothing for the remaining 60 that will be ready for use by December 15. Our hope is to serve more churches and have more campers hear the Word of God than ever before. Your gift will directly impact ministry in the future. Thank you for considering what how you can get involved.
