Speaker
We’re looking forward to having Jayce Kassuhn as our junior camp speaker this summer! Jayce attended a year of Ironwood’s Institute of Ministry (now called Defined) and served as a Rivertown teen counselor for a summer. He is pursuing a degree in pastoral ministry at International Baptist College and Seminary in Chandler, AZ. He is passionate about pointing people to Jesus and helping them grow in their knowledge of Him. After completing his degree, he plans to minister in Utah, where he grew up.
Things You Should Know
Arrival and Departure: Everyone attending an Ironwood camp, retreat, or conference must register at the office. Please do so upon arrival. The office is open at arrival times and each workday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. First and last meals, as well as registration times, will be announced in the brochure for each camp.
Late Arrivals: Should your arrival be delayed for some reason, please call the camp office at 760.257.3503 to hold your reservations and to give us an estimate of your arrival time, especially if you will be late for the first meal.
What to Bring: Bed and bath linens are provided for campers age 18 and up at family and adult retreats; all campers attending summer or youth camps should bring bed and bath linens. Campers should bring a flashlight, Bible, note pad, pen or pencil, toiletries, and spending money. Please call if you have questions. You might also want to bring suntan lotion, sunglasses, Chap Stick, hat, a water bottle, and a camera. During warmer months, you may want flip-flops to wear to and from the lake.
Any fashion worn must come at least to the top of the knee. Anything skintight does not count as covered but can be worn as a base layer. For morning chapels, regular camp dress is acceptable. For evening services, fashions to the top of the knee and shirts that are a step above a T-shirt are acceptable. Styles worn to evening services should not be intended for the waterfront, athletic events/exercise, or bedtime. Ironwood reserves the right to ask any camper to change his/her outfit if, in the estimation of the staff, the outfit is too immodest, too feminine/masculine, or too suggestive.
Please do not bring pets, cigarettes, drugs, fireworks, or clothing with worldly advertising.
Special Diets: Because we cannot accommodate various special diets, please bring your own supplementary foods, if needed. A refrigerator, microwave, and toaster are available to store and prepare special diet foods. Food from a Homestead meal may be set aside for a future meal.
Clothing Tips: During spring, fall, and winter camps, the weather in the desert varies from quite warm to quite cold. Be prepared for either. For horseback riding, boots or shoes with heels are encouraged for a safer situation.
Ladies . . . Tank tops, tight shirts, clothing with low necklines in front or back, or styles leaving the midriff bare should not be worn. Appropriate clothing includes knee-length shorts, and loose-fitting slacks or jeans. Colored, modest shorts must be worn over swimsuits. If the top of the swimsuit is not lined or has a low neckline in front or back, a colored T-shirt or tank top must be worn over it. If shorts do not come to the knee, a towel or cover-up must be worn while going to and from the lake.
Gentlemen . . . Tank tops should not be worn. Fashions that come to the top of the knee are appropriate for activity times. Exposed undergarments are not permitted. Swimsuits must be modest, trunk-type suits.
Lost & Found: Lost and found items not requested within 30 days will be disposed of. Requested items will be mailed at your expense.
For adult and family retreats only . . . Firearms: If firearms are brought, they are to be used only at the shooting range and at scheduled times. Adults bringing firearms should keep them locked in their vehicle at all other times.
