Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.

Living Memorial: Bill Baddorf

Bill Baddorf went home to Jesus due to Covid in 2020. He left a legacy of godliness to Karen, his wife of 50 years, his five children and his 25 grandchildren. Bill had a heart for Christian education and started or worked in seven Christian schools, supported Ironwood faithfully, and was most recently a university professor. His students remember him as a professor who was serious about holding them accountable. “Inspect what you expect” was one of his mottos. He was generous to his students. He loved having them in his home, feeding them and taking them out on his boat. He was solidly grounded in his faith and a huge influence for good in their lives.

Bill also retired from the military as a tanker pilot and retired as a pilot from Continental Airlines. His retirement became a joke to the family because he always had a new career or project in mind, like running a construction company for several years or starting a church in his neighborhood. Another motto he had was “What God orders, He pays for.” He was constantly looking for the next way he could step out in faith.

As of September 2021, Dad will have enjoyed heaven for a year. We miss him deeply, and in honor of his generosity and concern for God’s kingdom, we would like to start a family project. Dad loved Ironwood, and he and mom helped with some construction projects at camp. We went to Ironwood as kids, and his daughter worked there two summers. His grandchildren have been campers and his granddaughter, Moriah is working on staff at the camp. We would like to raise $100,000 for needed cabin space at Ironwood in honor of Dad. We plan to go to camp, as a family, in January 2023 to help build two cabins.

We are excited about this adventure because it is a complete step of faith. We are excited to share with our children an experience to watch God at work. We are asking you to partner with us in prayer and financially, asking God to provide abundantly, above all we can ask or think!

The Ironwood Living Memorial was created to honor the memories of lost loved ones as well as to encourage their families. All gifts made to the Ironwood Living Memorial are of lasting value since they further Ironwood’s mission of reaching young people for the Lord Jesus Christ, strengthening families, and serving local churches. As each gift is received, a special card is sent to the bereaved family on behalf of the donor (no amount is ever stated). A tribute is included in the Ironwood Dispatch as well as in the Ironwood Book of Living Memorials.
